SAME (So All May Eat)

So All May Eat (SAME) creates an interfaith community by addressing nutritional and physical needs with our neighbors who are without homes or are living in poverty so we might together experience the fullness of God’s love and grace.

Free Lunch Program

Every Monday at 11:30 AM

In the fall, winter, and spring, we offer a hot lunch at the church. In the summer months, we offer a sandwich meal. All are welcome to join for lunch, and there is no cost for the meal.

As supplies allow, we also offer toiletries, feminine hygiene products, and other food and household items.

Free Clothing Closet

Every Monday at 11:30 AM

The clothing closet is open during lunch. We stock clothes, shoes, jackets, blankets, gloves, and more for men, women, and children. Availability of items varies. Stop in to see what we might have for you!

Mobile Food Pantry (Grocery Delivery)*

Typically the Second Tuesday of the Month

We partner with the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank to provide about 100 local households with around 50 pounds of groceries. Recipients must signup in advance, and they can pick up their food at the church or have it delivered to them.

*Grocery Delivery for those without transportation or unable to get a ride to pick up their food

Other Services

Mondays at 11:30 AM, Depending on Availability

As we are able, we offer other services that may be helpful to our guests. Examples of previous services on Mondays include licensed counselors, voter registration, tax help, vaccine appointments, flu shots, and dental clinics.

SAME is operated almost entirely by volunteers who believe in its mission of welcoming everyone with a good meal. Volunteer opportunities include preparing food, serving Monday lunches, clean-up, sorting clothing donations, setting up and running the Monday clothing closet, and monthly mobile food pantry set up, bag packing, and delivery. Guests are also able to volunteer.

Our clothing closet is run almost entirely on donations of clothing. If you have a donation, they can be dropped off in the church office on Wine Street. SAME secures most food from the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, but there are occasionally needs for food donations.
