SAME (So All May Eat)

So All May Eat (SAME) creates an interfaith community by addressing nutritional and physical needs with our neighbors who are without homes or are living in poverty so we might together experience the fullness of God’s love and grace.

I Need Help

Free Lunch Program

Every Monday at 11:30 AM

In the fall, winter, and spring, we offer a hot lunch at the church. In the summer months, we offer a sandwich meal. All are welcome to join for lunch, and there is no cost for the meal.

As supplies allow, we also offer toiletries, feminine hygiene products, and other food and household items.

Free Clothing Closet

Every Monday at 11:30 AM

The clothing closet is open during lunch. We stock clothes, shoes, jackets, blankets, gloves, and more for men, women, and children. Availability of items varies. Stop in to see what we might have for you!

Mobile Food Pantry (Grocery Delivery)*

Typically the Second Tuesday of the Month

We partner with the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank to provide about 100 local households with around 50 pounds of groceries. Recipients must signup in advance, and they can pick up their food at the church or have it delivered to them.

*Grocery Delivery for those without transportation or unable to get a ride to pick up their food

Other Services

Mondays at 11:30 AM, Depending on Availability

As we are able, we offer other services that may be helpful to our guests. Examples of previous services on Mondays include voter registration, tax help, COVID vaccine appointments, flu shots, and dental clinics.

SAME is operated almost entirely by volunteers who believe in its mission of welcoming everyone with a good meal. Volunteer opportunities include preparing food, serving Monday lunches, clean-up, sorting clothing donations, setting up and running the Monday clothing closet, and monthly mobile food pantry set up, bag packing, and delivery. Guests are also able to volunteer.

SAME is a ministry of Hampton Baptist Church, but most of the program’s funding comes from outside donors. Your charitable donations are key to sustaining us as we welcome our guests at SAME.

Our clothing closet is run almost entirely on donations of clothing. If you have a donation, they can be dropped off in the church office on Wine Street. SAME secures most food from the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, but there are occasionally needs for food donations.

SAME - So All May Eat

Since the 1960s Hampton Baptist has been involved in alleviating hunger in downtown Hampton. Now SAME is the program that works with our neighbors in need.

Thankful to be partnering again with Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads who brought us a group from Heritage High School (My Brothers/My Sisters Keeper). They jumped right in making brownies, counting bags for our upcoming Mobile Foood Pantry (no, counting out 100 bags is not as easy as it seems) and then helped serve lunch. Over at our Choice Pantry we had so much produce we might need to add the name "Farmer's Market"! ... See MoreSee Less

Throw back to 2016 when we were moving back into our new building at Hampton Baptist Church and some volunteers and neighbors came together to clean all the equipment that had been in storage. Smiling faces all around....even when doing the dirty work! ... See MoreSee Less

SAME - So All May Eat
Hey friends who are cleaning out their closets (or those of their kid's closets now that they have grown up, left the nest AND all their stuff), see if you have anything to donate to our friends up in the Williamsburg area who are working hard to make 2025 Prom season special for our neighbors who can't afford the hefty price tag. ... SAME - So All May Eat
Starting in the 1960s Hampton Baptist Church began hosting a weekly Soup Kitchen. In 2015 we changed the name to SAME - So All May Eat and continued the programming by adding more food choices, a pantry, clothing, toiletries along with the same loving neighbor as self as our driving force. Today, thanks to our awesome kitchen crew, we were back in Soup Kitchen mode serving Penny's homemade tomato soup! And instead of 40 to 50 neighbors joining us for lunch, we served about 150! YUM! ... See MoreSee Less
